I gave a motorola Moto G and need assistance.

I have been told that I can send myself an e-mail message and attach a pdf file to it and then save it to my phone.

I scanned a document..used save as pdf to documents. This I did. I can view the documents on my computer but when I send myself an e-mail and attach the document I get a response of..no application available to open this document. How can I do this so that I can transfer a pdf document from my computer to my cell phone?
