We got this phone in Jan. 2015 from Amazon. Last week the screen just went black, so we took it to a local repair shop that thought it was the screen. They ordered a new screen, but that didn't work, so it's the "mother board". Any advice on if it is covered by warranty if a repair shop opened it? Who repairs it? Motorola or Amazon? We really like the phone and hate to have to get a new one so soon.
Suggestions?

That's unfortunate--you probably should have contacted Motorola to begin with for warranty repair. If the local repair shop was not an authorized Motorola service center, then the warranty is likely voided. In any case, Motorola would be the ones to talk to, not Amazon.
