USB connection works only once on same cable MOTOG3

I plugged my Moto G3 into my laptop and it was recognized. I unplugged it. When I replugged it it shows my phone but it appears empty.

I then changed the cable. The phone file system showed up, I added some files from my laptop then unplugged the usb. When I realized I forgot to transfer a particular file I plugged the USB back in and again it appears empty. I can see the device in explorer but when I select it it is empty...

When you connect the usb cable between your pc and your phone, a notification should appear in the phone's screen, open it and select the second option, for MTP file transfers.
The first option is only for charging, the phone appears in windows explorer but it's empty.

You have to select MPT mode on each connection, it is a new safety "feature" of Marshmallow.
