MotoG3 will not sync to my windows 10 laptop but charges via USB

My MotoG3 will no longer syncs to my laptop. I have used a brand new USB cable and still no use. I have downloaded MDM app and it does not pick up my moto. When I click on my files MotoG3 shows up but says 'this folder is empty'. The Moto charges via the USB connection with my laptop but nothing else. It used to work fine but I noticed when I was trying to sync a playlist with Windows Media Player the other day. I have a Windows phone too and this works/syncs fine. I have searched sites for days and all troubleshooting ideas have not worked. HELP! :'( :'( :'(

Welcome to Android Central! When you connect the phone via USB, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon. Make sure MTP is selected. In Marshmallow, the default is often Charge Only.
