Hi forum. I looked up on the internet for a solution to my problem but to no avail. So now i am posting it here.
I got my moto G a few days back. A 500 ma motorola charger was given with it. Phone is upgraded to kitkat.
The problem is that my phone charges to 100% but never shows any sign of a fully charged battery and the charging bolt on battery doesn't go away. I've waited for an hour but nothing showed up. In options>battery it says charging. But when i turn off the phone while charging it shows a tick mark indicating a fully charged battery. Otherwise, the phone is fine and i dont have any other battery related issues.
What might be the problem? Is the phone overcharging while it's at 100%? Would a factory restore fix the issue? Thanks...

Re: moto G charging issue

Same thing happens to my phone. It's 100 percent but the charging bolt doesn't go away. Kitkat OS as well. I don't know if there is something wrong with it or its a regular thing.

Re: moto G charging issue

Just noticed that it says "charged" on the lockscreen. The phone knows that it's charged. I assume it is how motorola phones are. Support from other users is appreciated.

It's a regular thing for sure. Mine says "charging" when busy and "charged" when completely full aswell.

Same thing on my old Note 2 :)

Hi after strugliing for few months with moto g charging issues.. Finally got the break thru.
Moto g needs adapter With high output amps. Couple of days back purchased a Nokia wall charger with 1.5 amp output current . now my moto g takes very short time to get charged fully. So whoever facing issues just go for a charger with current greater Or at least 1.2Amp. thnx...

I believe mine, even when fully charged, it will still have the charging bolt battery icon displayed, but it says charged on the lockscreen. I also had to ditch the included 500-600amp battery charger because it would take 4-5 hours to charge. It's rediculous. I got a 1.5amp charger and now it will be fully charged from dead in about 1 1/2 - 2 hours depending on if im using it or not.

We are using an old Samsung GS3 cable with a Nexus 7 wall charger and we have seen no issues yet. Android 4.4.2 is installed. (Moto G LTE US device) Hope this helps!

This is pretty normal. To stop it from over charging the battery kicks in at 100%. So when its charging over night and you unplug it seeing this is normal. All of my phones have done this in the past. Sorry I missed your comment! (It stops to make sure over charging does not kill your battery out right.)
