Loving my Moto X so far just wondered if I can remove extra pages/screens? I really only use 3

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks

It's definitely possible if you install a third-party launcher (homescreen and app drawer replacement) from the Play Store. Nova Launcher and Apex Launcher are two that offer high levels of customizability and control while remaining relatively close to the stock launcher in form and function.

So it isn't possible without an extra launcher ?

Correct. The stock launcher has 5, you cannot add or subtract from that.

I wish Motorola kept this from the old version of their launcher (RAZR M/HD).

I thought I was being dumb, I was looking for this answer also, I really have no need for 5 pages.
I was doing long press on home screen (only wallpapers would show), I was doing pinch to zoom, I was going onto the blank pages, and could nto fgure out how to get rid of.

Thanks for answering this, that on stock - can nay do.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Easy. Pinch any of the homescreens and you will get a thumbnail assembly of all of your homescreens. Drag the unnecessary ones to the bin. Push the back button when done. That's all!

Huh? My home screen doesn't pinch like that. That sounds like an HTC Sense feature.

Are you referring to one of the third party launchers?

I've been pulling my hair out to try and get this done. I tried working in setup screen, but kept adding pages.

This is misinformation. The stock AOSP launcher has 5 home screens. This cannot be changed without installing a third-party launcher like Nova or Apex.

    Incorrect with the stock launcher.

FYI - AOSP launcher is now launcher3. Think of Google Now Launcher without Google Now available via swipe to the left.

To the original poster, definitely consider trying out Nova Launcher if the # of screens is important to you. It seems redundant, but it really does run smoothly. You can set it up so you can barely tell you're not in the stock launcher (ok, launcher3) if that's how you like it. You could just remove two screens and be done with it.

Another benefit is that you can back up and restore your home screen set up.

Launcher3 isn't on the original Moto X though. Just wanted to point out that Launcher3 is currently the AOSP launcher.

I wonder if that will still be the case after the lollipop update.

I imagine it would get the Lollipop launcher, be it the updated Google Now Launcher or it's AOSP equivalent.

The launcher is probably the least important consideration in a phone or an Android version. Most experienced Android users probably install their favorite one as soon as they get a new phone or the update reverts the default back to the manufacturer's launcher.
