I guess I didn't read the right "Official" specs blog... Oh well.

There was some confusion after an iFixit breakdown where the NFC antenna was mistaken for a wireless charging coil. To be fair, Motorola has never said the Moto X was equipped for wireless charging, but the misinformation spread anyway.

The Droid Maxx has wireless charging, which I think has added to the confusion even more.
