The Moto X is always between 87-101 in temp even when I am not using it alot. It went to 101 with driving directions on. Now, doing the same things on the HTC One, it never got above 32. Why is that?

Lol. Mixing Fahrenheit & Celsius never a good idea. 90 F I think. Moto X does a lot of stuff with sensors while it just seems to be idle . Running around 100 F probably about normal.

Sitting on my desk idle mine is at 79. I have seen it at 93 using GPS while driving and just over a hundred right after a system restore.

Can you get the temp through built in readings or do you need an app for that?

There may be a dialer code you can type into your stock phone app, that should bring up a device status screen, although I don't know what it is for HTC devices.

And yes there are apps that can tell you your devices temperature as well.
