I have it in my cart but under the phone it says not available. The process order is still there. Anyone have same experience? don't want to place an order if its not available.

i hate the limited availability... why cant they just open up the deal for one day and let as many unit as possible and close it the next day

Maybe they're not ready to take that much of a loss.

at $350 I dont think there is a loss but i understand other cost like returns/faulty phone etc.

so far looks like moto X is solid

If Google really wanted the Moto X to disrupt the market, they could subsidize it like they do with the Nexus 5 and $350/$400 would be the price for full-retail and they could work with carriers to make it free (or $50/32GB) on-contract. They've got the warchest to do it.
