Well I see a new update for the camera app but can't download it. Here is the error.

The Play Store did not inform me there was an option to update, like one normally sees for other apps. After seeing this post, I checked manually and found there was in fact an update and so I installed it. Weird that I was not prompted to do so. Installed fine.

I've noticed that some app updates will not show in the installed tab, but in the 'all tab' in the 'My Apps' section in the play store.

If anyone is willing to do a Pre and Post Update photo comparison, that would be great. I'm curious to see what the "performance improvements" bring to the camera this time around.

I think it was just an app update, not a camera update. There are no changes to the camera performance, just added functionality.

I noticed that now when you tap the slow motion icon it brings up a menu to select "HD 1080p" or "Slo-Mo 720p". It used to just toggle slow motion mode, and it had a blue indicator.
