Assist - detect driving but don't talk to me or play music

Some time in the spring I setup my son's Moto X to detect driving but not do any of the Assist functions like announcing text messages or calls, or playing music. The intent was to use the Moto X driving detection (actually the resulting notification) as a trigger for Tasker. At that time you could check "talk to me" in Assist, and drill down further to separately enable/disable announcing texts and/or calls. I left both of these unchecked, so the notification would appear and trigger Tasker, but calls and texts would not be announced. It did exactly what I wanted.

Some time later, an update to Assist removed these more granular settings, leaving only the ability to turn "talk to me" on or off.

Is there any way to get the notification to appear without enabling any of the Assist features?

Bummer, not that I know of.

Simply remove the updates to Moto Assist and ignore future requests to update the Assist app and you will again see the option to have messages read aloud to you.
