Moto X Overheating

I got a moto X 16gb (xt1056) on Textnow wireless and every time I'm on LTE it heats up my phone beyond belief. Anyone have any solutions?

How good is the cell signal? If the signal is pretty poor, the phone might be heating up as it tries to boost the signal.

Are you playing games, watching videos or something else that is data intensive and CPU or GPU intensive?

Nope. I've tried a factory reset and that hasn't fixed it

Does it heat up if you're only on wi-fi, and turn mobile data off (but leave the cell radio on)?

No, just mobile data for some reason :/ specifically LTE

When it's on LTE and overheating, is the internet speed fast, or does it seem sluggish? Just because it says LTE in the status bar doesn't mean that it's actually connecting well. I've seen that before on my phone (on T-Mobile) when it's on the cusp of LTE vs HSPA (or worse). It'll say LTE, but nothing is happening, because it's not actually making a stable connection.

Hmm, I'm stumped. Is the phone backing up a lot of photos or something when connected to the web?

Also try wiping the cache partition: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...prod_answer_detail/a_id/101078/p/30,6720,9197

No luck:/ hasn't fixed it.

And wouldn't it show up in my data usage if I was uploading photos in the background?

You're right, it should show up in Data Usage.

Is this a used phone from another carrier, or an unlocked phone, that you subsequently activated on TextNow? Or did you get it from them?

I picked it up from them and I'm thinking it might be the software they put on it. I picked this phone up brand new

I'd bring it back to them and show them what's happening. Ask for a replacement.

Scratch what I said earlier. They sent me a new one. I'll keep you posted on if it does it or not on this one too.
