Moto X XT1056 on Sprint

I'm posting for a friend. She wants to buy a used Moto X XT1056. The seller says it's a Sprint phone. My friend currently has a HTC EVO and another year on their Sprint contract.
I have 2 questions, is there a problem with this phone and Sprint 'upgrading' their towers? Will Sprint give her a free sim?

Yes she can get a sim card for the phone free, either call into care and request one be shipped to you or go to a repair center and they can issue one to you for no charge.
