Wake up motion

There is probably an easy fix for this I hope. When my wife first got her phone you could wave your hand over it to check for any notifications but now it doesn't. Is there some setting she may have inadvertently messed up? Mine works fine. Thanks for any input!!

Go to the Moto app, press the little stars in the upper right corner, then press actions and make sure approach to display is activated.
