Not understanding how to set up Moto Voice properly

I set up the Moto Voice on my Moto X pure.......it said to say "talk to me" and enables spoken caller ID and will read incoming texts for 30 minutes hands free? Why just 30 minutes? It should announce caller ID and read texts as long as my bluetooth is connected.....and without bluetooth for as long as I have my phone on and the feature turned on. I went through all the settings and couldn't find anything I missed. Do I need to turn on Moto Voice and talkback under accessibility as well? What am I missing?

Unfortunately, the Talk to Me feature does only work for 30 minutes at a time. Not sure why they don't offer customization options for this.

Moto Voice and it's talk back feature works for me as long as I am home. Sounds like this problem might be caused by Marshmallow putting Moto Voice in doze mode. My phone is on lollipop and does not have this problem. You can try to disable the battery optimizations for Moto Voice (Disable Doze for Moto Voice).

The app specifically says it'll only work for 30 minutes (at least that's what it did on my Moto X Play which was on Lollipop when I had it).

You could try an app such as ReadItToMe - I've been playing with it for a few days and it seems to work pretty well.
