Is anyone else having Google accounts/Gmail syncing trouble? I woke up today to the delightful experience of somehow being signed out of my Google account. I signed back in but my phone won't sync any new mails on my Gmail. (It will eventually get them if I manually refresh each time).

And the thing is, I turned on my back-up phone and it's the same deal, which leads me to think it's somehow on my Google account's end and not my Moto Pure.

I tried deleting and re-entering the account info but no luck. In the Gmail Settings, "Sync Gmail" is checked (I unchecked it and re-checked it, no change).

Anyone have experience losing Gmail sync ability? How did you get it back?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Everything ok with your Google account on the desktop browser? Are you able to access your Gmail and everything else there?

Hi B. Diddy, yeah desktop Gmail and Google are fine, it's just the phone. I literally woke up yesterday and it had signed me out and then stopped working once relogged in.

p.s - I've cleared cache, tried deleting then re-entering the account info, etc

And when you added the account back after removing it, there were no problems when you entered your username and password?

No problems adding the account info back, it logged in with my usual s/n and password, but still no syncing happening.

A new update got pushed just a few days ago -- have you made sure it's up to date?

Alternatively, if it isn't working after the update, try uninstalling the update (thus reverting it to the factory-installed version), to see if it's a problem with the latest update.

I do have the latest update, will uninstall it and see if that helps. And to make matters more confusing, I have a second Gmail account which I use for signing on to web sites, correspondence with businesses, message boards like this :) That is working fine, that's getting new mails as always, it's just my primary personal account that's having the issues. (And the settings on both are exactly the same).

If the problem persists after uninstalling updates, then try removing that second Gmail account temporarily from the phone.

Problem still there. I will remove the second Gmail account and see if it helps. Thanks for all your suggestions on this, btw. It's so frustrating when these things arbitrarily happen and I can't figure out why.

I'm having the exact same problem you are. I cannot get gmail to sync at all even though syncing is check-marked. I have to go into my inbox and refresh it to get mail. Boy do I miss those days of the Mail app on the iPhone. At least when I had the iPhone I received mail with no problem.

Update on this: happy to report that three days after the crisis it seems to have returned to normal. B. Diddy I tried your suggestions and not sure which one did it, but syncing is back. I downgraded to the previous version of Gmail but that didn't seem to help (and I kept getting prompted to upgrade to latest version); I removed the secondary account but that didn't seem to help, and I put it back because, as I noted before, that one was working fine and I did want it on my phone. Before I went to sleep last night I upgraded back to the latest version.

Anyway, when I got up this morning syncing seems to be back as normal. Fingers crossed it will keep working. Maybe changing the version and/or removing the second account did something, or else it just fixed itself as arbitrarily as it went kaput?

A new update to the Gmail app just rolled out to my devices, so maybe it was a bug they identified and squashed. In any case, I'm glad it's working now!

You good people are not the only ones and this issue is not solely confined to tablets. Mysrlf and a friend both have new Samsung J5 (2017) phones, both have Googlemail accounts and have always used Gmail without isssues in every phone we have ever had Until now.

Up until two days ago my Gmail was notifying perfectly well, no problems at all. Until something updated, I assume a Samsung app as Gmail has not bedn updated.

I went througb the steps knowing that they were all ok but did them anyway. Nothing worked. So I disabled Gmail and restarted the phone and reactivated it. Lo and behold the first test email I sent had the proper notification - and then no more after that for any email. I disabled it permanently and tried the Samsung email with the same result.

I deleted my Google account from that app and put Outlook in instead - all working again....

There's obviously an issue with Gmail/Google/Samsung on some devices. My advice is to change to another app.
