what are some of the best apps out there for taking nice & clear night shots other than the stock app?

The current and most widely know app is Open Camera which allows on the option for customization far beyond that of the stock app. We're dealing with smart devices which aren't known for get images and night images are the worse. I would suggest that any app is as good as another.. the issue then is, making sure the equipment used to take these night shots is more reliable than the camera app. Supports, tri-pods etc would be needed for this application, but there's no guaranty the image will turn out as one would hope.
However things are constantly evolving and changing for the better. According to several sites the most current and most reliable camera is that of the new iPhone.. But I've yet to test this for myself. Lastly, it is said that the lens is what captures the image so if the smart device doesn't have flawless lenses, all of your efforts will go unnoticed and without merit.
