After I successfully rooted my moto X, the second app I installed was Xposed and then I installed the App Settings module.
My reason for installing these was to tweak the DPI of a couple apps to enable "tablet" formatting. Primarily, I wanted to modify the Calendar app to display in the nice multi-pane layout that you get on a tablet.
After installing, some reboots, and a lame query on the XDA forum (where I discovered I had failed to actually enable the App Settings module) the settings stuck, and my Calendar now displays as I want it to:
