Re: Post pictures taken with Motorola X here
I may be the first Moto X user living in China who posts here... (yay?). T-Mobile Developer Edition, post-camera update. I gotta say, I am really disappointed w/ the camera's utter inability to find the correct white balance, or to overcome backlit situations (couldn't they add face recognition and make sure they expose the faces properly?!) And dynamic range isn't the best (e.g. in layman terms, the ability to show detail in shadows)
Anyway, this is my first morning with the phone, while driving to work. Note how everything is just ... BROWN. Shanghai can get polluted, but on this day it was most definitely not. My windshield was nice and clean.
I used Aperture and did ONLY color-correct based on my memory. This corrected version matches my memory and just looks "right". Not there is still flattened dynamic range, but the sky, cars, and everything is the proper color... lighting really was flat that day.
I see a brownish tint to almost every picture I take. Also, the "touch-to-focus" feature only seems to focus on the spot, but doesn't meter there. so I have lots of pictures of very sharp silhouettes of people. And touch-to-focus is horribly slow at snapping pictures of moving subjects (like my 3 year old daughter). I've ended up going back to touch-anywhere cuz at least the shutter is close to instantaneous.
All in all... I love the Quick Capture gesture. But Motorola desperately needs to come up with another MAJOR software fix to address the camera's white balance and backlight compensation issues.
