Chromecasting a video from Chrome Browser?

Whenever I cast a YouTube video from a chrome browser, and the phone's screen times out, the YouTube video pauses on the tv. And turning the screen back on to press play doesn't resume the video over chromecast, it continues to play on my phone browser. Why? Does this happen to anyone else?

Why don't you just use the YouTube app. I have YouTube red so when I close out the app it still plays in the background but I would just try the app

Sometimes I'm reading a story on line and they have videos in the story, so when I wanna watch the video, I just start it and chromecast it from that site.

I have noticed videos pausing when the screen turns off occasionally when using the proper YouTube app as well... not as much, but every now and again.

I noticed when I was casting Amazon video from my laptop the screen had to stay on. Same thing when I was using the phone for Amazon video since it doesn't cast natively.

Not sure of a fix but except maybe enable background play
