I have the ZIP file from Motorola on my microSD. Went to the Settings>About phone>Updates. It comes up with the tiny text about the 2.1 update but at the bottom it says not enough space, but I have 53 MB free, more than the 40 MB they said I needed.

Now, I can free up a bunch of space if I delete the data from Dialer Storage when I go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. WHat will that do? Please help!!!!

Ran into the same thing last night, I did my upgrade. Had 55+ MB of space, and that warning popped up.
My update ran fine, no problems at all.
