How do I remove apps?

I want to remove some apps that came with my phone, but the "manage apps" setting screen does not have an option for uninstalling them. Pressing and holding the icon gives me two options: "Add to home" and "Add to group." I want to uninstall. I'd really like to know how to get rid of these. Otherwise I am doomed to have useless and unwanted apps staring at me as long as I have this phone. And who knows what they are doing without my knowledge!

Thanks for any help.
Tom

Hello Tom!

The answer is simple. If your not provided with an uninstall option from Manage apps then the only way to uninstall or " freeze " the use of them is by rooting the device. That is the downside to OEM and carrier bloatware thrown on a device, they usually don't give you the option to uninstall the applications. Same goes for stock/common apps to like Email or Gtalk, etc. those require root to uninstall.
