I've noticed that some apps such as the official AOL IM and Google+ apps don't allow you to use the software keyboard's autocorrect, autopunctuation, etc.

In AOL IM, SwiftKey X's offerings appear under the text box, but don't automatically override what I type when I hit the space bar like they do in say, Handcent SMS.

In Google+, no corrections or auto-fills appear at all and when I hit the space bar at the end of a sentence, it doesn't put a period in.

Why is this?
