Hello All-

I had to switch back to an old Droid 2 Global from a BB after some issues. its been since Jan 2011 since I have used the Droid 2.

First off - I still have the market on my device - no Google Play

Second - when I try and search for some apps like Evernote and Whats App - I get nothing. They dont appear.

My phone was rooted at one point - do I have to unroot to get the market working correctly? please let me know.

I have OS 2.3.4

Not sure about the missing apps but to get the Play Store update simply download Google Music from the market - it will automatically update the Market app. I had to do this at one point myself when uninstalling some stuff. You can simply uninstall Google Music after and the Play Store remains.
