longer battery life, more efficient processing, a MUCH better GPU, less incompatibility with market applications, sturdier build quality, 24 bit color display, more accurate colors from said display, slightly higher resolution, more internal storage, and multiple LED color notifications that you can freely change to help better identify the type of notification you're getting. Sense UI defaults everything to green.

My wife got the D2 because of the keyboard. Wouldn't go without it. No other reason. I have Dinc. Gotta say, overall, the sense UI truly blows the rest away. I can use another word besides seamless. I don't feel the moto is bad, but after using sense, it just doesn't flow. Feels like it's harder to find menu options. I can't really explain it, but Sense UI just makes the phone feel more comfortable. The other real difference is MOTO puts a PIN when you use an Exchange account. Had to buy Touchdown for her so she didn't have to enter a pin EVERY time she picked up the phone.

For me, my BB Storm died, I needed a phone and neither the Dx nor Inc were available on short notice.
That said, I figured "what the hay" and decided to try the D2 and swap for Dx or Dinc within the 30 days, for which ever one was stocked in the store first. I never thought I would like the keyboard or use it, but I now love it. I use swype some, and will more, but having that keyboard is great! Particularly when I cant focus enough to do swype or onscreen. It is mindlessly and predictably easy. Plus, using the keyboard frees up the screen to see more real estate. I am not giving half the screen up to a keyboard.
The screen is great, it is fast, not laggy, and like every moto phone I have ever had, holds a phone signal where others fail. Same with data strength too.
As far as the interface, I find it simple to setup and use. My daughters have had eris's for almost a year and I am very sense aware. I have always liked sense just fine. But now, after getting the D2 setup, it is awkward to use sense. I still like it, but now it seems .... less intuitive compared to what I am now used to. Point being, whatever you use is what you get used to, preferences aside.
It also has stock Froyo. And with root, I am tethering wirelessly and it is fast. I dont know the limit, but I have had 2 computers and an Ipod connected at the same time. I guess that aint D2 only, but it works well.
I have 9 days till my 30 are over. I am still trying to find a reason to switch to Dx or Dinc. I just might keep this D2. - 09-11-2010, 08:18 AM #7
I'll give you one little reason I like the Dinc over her D2. When browsing the web, I get the real web. There is a setting under the browser options on the Dinc where I can toggle between Mobile web view, or real view. Sounds silly, but I check ESPN all day long, and the D2 gives me the mobile view. I HATE the mobile version. I can actually check the real site on my Dinc. Of course it's easier to use a computer, but I'm out and about all day. Just something silly I guess. Not even the Idon't does that.

My girl and I have both and they are each amazing phones. I love the D2's keyboard and build quality but the DrInc hands down feels faster. Plus its almost 2x as fast with loading complex web pages. I have put them both side by side and the DrInc is faster everytime but once you goto a complex page D2 really starts to stuggle, its almost agonizing sitting there waiting while the DrInc has moved ahead three pages in the same time.
That said...I'd still trade my DrInc for a d2

Re: Why did you pick the D2 over the Incredible?
It's not the hardware, it's the software. For example, the same computer renders pages at different speeds in Firefox vs IE vs Chrome, right? HTC created their own optimized browser for Sense, whereas Moto just slapped the stock program on the Droid 2. Dolphin HD seems to be more polished and optimized, so any Droid 2 user disappointed by the stock experience should take a look at the free alternative (just like most of us have switched from IE to Firefox or Chrome).

I immediately noticed the D2 has a much less responsive screen than the Incredible.
Has anyone else noticed the same?
The screen looks nice on both phones but I like HTC'S Sense UI MUCH better. - 09-13-2010, 12:34 PM #17
I actually own both a Droid 2 and an Incredible. The Incredible was sort of my in between phone. I liked it better than my old Droid 1 because of its speed and how smoothly applications ran and how smoothly things scrolled on the screen.
At the time I wasn't sure how long it would be before the D2 was released.
I liked my Incredible, but like all HTC phones I've ever owned, I hated the battery life. No matter how you cut it, HTC does not make phones with a decent battery life.
When the D2 was released I wasn't sure that was the phone I was going to purchase. Two things helped me make my decision. The first was the processor. I was happy they had made it a 1gig processor. The second thing reason was it came with Android 2.2 installed on it. At the time I was going to buy the D2, or the X. I didn't like the X because for me the screen was just too big. - 09-18-2010, 02:40 PM #18
I read a lot of bad reviews on the D-inc battery life. That and the fact that D2 comes stock w/ 2.2 made my mind up.

Re: Why did you pick the D2 over the Incredible?
Initially had problems getting it to work. When typing about:debug in the browser use the physical keyboard. Apparently you have to use the ENTER key to get the hidden options. At least that's what worked for me.

Re: Why did you pick the D2 over the Incredible?
HTC and horrible batteries is veey common. The batteries they choose for their phones are too small for the phones. Look at the specs for something like the dinc and d2. You'll find the d2 has a larger battery. This is most often the case.

Yeah their is no reason the dinc came with that small battery when the extended battery from the eris fit under the battery door and that was like a 1730

Two things I like about the Incredible that the D2 doesn't have is:
1. The Incredible gives the option to download files to the SDcard, internal storage, or phone storage.
2. The Incredible comes with HTC sync which allows you to sync your Outlook calendar and contacts directly with your PC.
The water live wallpaper on the Incredible has fog, I like that too.
EDIT: It wasn't the water live wallpaper, it was the sense weather widget. I have beautiful widgets which gives me the same thing, but now I see the Incredible has a windshield wiper when it rains.Last edited by pool_shark; 11-15-2010 at 05:26 PM.

Dropped Dinc for D2
My first Android phone was a DInc. I took it back after 3 weeks and picked up the D2, for two reasons: Battery Life and screen visability. As everyone mentiones, the stock battery for the DInc is terrible, just terrible. The second drawback to me was that you cant see the DInc screen in the sunlight. It's a beautiful screen indoors, no question....but outside? It was like looking at the back of the phone lol.
The D2 battery is just super or anything, but it gets me through the day. And I can see the screen in the sunshine, so thats a plus. I will say that the DInc is faster, and seems more responsive, and I knew that going into the trade. I just felt the D2 is a more usable phone for my personal needs. - 11-15-2010, 05:23 PM #25
Incredible sold out
My situation exactly. Went into the Verizon store with full intention to leave with the Incredible. Turned out they had no more in stock. So I said I'll take the Droid X. Same story. All sold out. That's how I ended up with a Droid 2. Not a real problem, though. I'm loving the Droid 2 so far, and in 2 years, I'll happily upgrade to whatever is the latest and greatest by then.
