D2 Showing Phantom Voice Mail

My fiance's D2 is having a weird issue. The notification for a new VM is showing, but there are no new VM's. I tried rebooting the device, then the new VM notification was still there and showing: New VM: 12/31/1969, which is quite hilarious.

I had her go through all her messages and make sure there was nothing weird. Is there any known issue for this? We can't get this phantom VM notification to go away.

switch over to a secondary voicemail application like google voice or youmail and then switch back. i'd just stay with youmail though. and its free
