I searched this forum for peoples opinion on this, and I couldn't find much. Is there a need for virus protection on our phones? If people are running them, what is a good suggestion? What is the effect on battery life? Thanks.

Not really needed for the phone itself. But those that do run AV software usually do so to be sure the email they receive and send/forward do not contain viruses. Also, with our devices we can drop any kind of file on the SD card and email it so there could be a chance of copying over an infected file and emailing it to someone. It won't effect your phone but any business clients would think it unprofessional to receive an infected file or document from you.

If you're just using your phone for personal use I wouldn't worry about it. If you're using it for business there's AVG in the market.

i use lookout and it works like a dream. It scans apps when they get installed, if they red-flag lookout immediately notifies you so you can uninstall if you so wish.
