Default Phone showing as CD Rom

So this just started today. When I connect my R2D2 phone to my HP laptop and set it for USB Mass Storage, it shows up as a CD Rom instead of a removable drive. When I try to open the folder, it tells me I have to insert a CD first.

    Anyone else have this issue?

I am having the exact same issue. It just started today. Hopefully there is a fix for it....I'm using a rooted Droid 2 (Liberty Gingerbread). It has been working fine for the past few days.

And as quickly as it started, it stopped, and started showing as a removable drive again. I have no idea what that was all about.

if it happens again i'd uninstall your drivers and reconnect the device. it will re-install the drivers and they'll probably get fixed. or you could just install the Moto drivers from motorola.com

    Cory,

I actually did that. I removed the device from my device list, plugged it back in, it re-installed, and still showed up as a CD-Rom. 10 minutes later it popped up and asked if I wanted to open the removable drive to view files. Hopefully it won't happen again.

The crazy thing is, 18+ hrs later, I boot my laptop up and plug it in via USB, and it magically works like nothing happened. I would have thought I was the crazy one if I hadn't come across this post. I didn't uninstall any drivers, all I did was try different USB ports at the time it happened, and it still wouldn't work. Now, it's working...and I'm glad, but I dread if this should happen again....

when you tried a new USB port your computer likely had to reinstall the drivers with memory to that port. but hopefully it doesn't happen again.
