    Thumbs down Returned mine.

After 3 days I had to pull the battery 2 times. Also I can't handle the screen being so laggy. Also can't handle no netflix. I exchanged for an iphone. I don't want to start a apple/android debate here because that is a no-win situation for either side, however after using the iphone 4, I will never own another android device. I'm not a hacker or modder. I just want my device to work as advertised. I went from a Moto Devour to a Droid X to a Thunderbolt to a Droid 3 and now an iphone. There is no comparison. Also...I own no other Apple products.

Yours is the first review that I've read like this. Do as you will, but I think you probably had a bad unit. All the videos and reviews I've seen show a very quick responsivenss while using this device and I haven't heard about battery pulls either. Had you installed any apps?

Android isn't for everyone, regardless of what the fanboy in many (including admittedly myself sometimes) wants to think. There's a lot of people who just want a "phone that works with no faults" that they can forget about and just enjoy. To many, iOS and Windows Phone 7 fill that role nicely. The UI is fluid and smooth in both cases, in Microsoft's case they set strict requirements that ensure a fluid experience regardless of the device, and updates (although in MS's case a bit delayed due to Samsung's production changes) occur in a timely, controlled, manner.

For many, if the apps are there, that's all they need.

While I think many people who aren't exactly tech savvy use Android phone's just fine (My dad and stepmom are prime examples) there's still a few slightly rough edges imo. Then again, every platform could use improvement...it's what keeps every competitor on their toes.

In any case, enjoy the iPhone, it's a pretty solid device overall. In the admittedly few videos i've seen of Droid 3, things look smooth as butter 95% of the time. Hopefully your device was just having issues or something.

I too am a use the phone as is and no need to hack it, but to whomever wants to, have fun. I use my phone as a business and fun tool and if I need something bigger and more powerful, I have access to other type machines that will meet the purpose I have at the time.

I have been a BB user for years and it met my needs and wasn't planning on changing for the sake of change. When I started a new job a couple months ago, they gave me a D2G for my workphone and I started to love the functionality, so when they announced the D3, and I started going thru the specs, I couldn't wait to be the 1st on the block with one.

Do early releases have bugs or bad builds at time? Yup they do, but I figure if something goes wrong, Verizon will take care of it and if they don't, I know how to use the process to get satisfaction...

Hes a troll, Ive been testing the device for 4 days now and lag has been a non issue. Ive never had to pull the battery either. The iphone has as many issues as droids and i can say that, because i work for a company that sells both so i see the people who come in with issues.

Congratulations, You downgraded and now you are behind technology. Let us know when your start having problems with your iphone.

I was a BB user for MANY years but I got tired of them always being a year behind everyone else. LTE drains the battery so I got a Droid 3. I have no lag on mine at all. Screens are pretty snappy. I do want to get rid of MotoBlur when I can but I love the device.

Well I'm not a troll. I guess anyone who says anything bad about android is a troll. Maybe I got a bad one. I don't know. All I know is that after the thunderbolt issues I had, I wasn't gonna put up with problems. I'm not saying one is better that the other. For me, I just thought I owed it to myself to try Apple. If I have trouble with Apple, I'll try windows phone or BB. I'm simply not gonna pay $200 to be a beta tester.

I finally got mine today and I'm considering taking it back also. Mine has not been laggy at all, however. My gripe is the screen. The screen is very pixelated. I expected something as good as my X, but it seems like old cell phone technology. Otherwise it kicks ****.

I have never owned an iPhone - but I do have an iPad. Its stable as hell, virtually never has a problem, and worked flawlessly out of the box. I can't say the same for the last Droid I had (Droid 2 Global). That had lots of bugs and problems, and required lots of effort to customize before I could get it to a place where it was livable.

So, I don't see any trolling at all in his post. I can certainly believe he had problems with his unit, and I can totally understand why he would prefer the ease and simplicity of an IOS device.

Personally, there are far too many aspects of IOS that I find irritating, I hate the lack of customization, I dislike Apple's business model, and I must have a hardware keyboard. So, unless there are real problems with the phone, the Droid 3 is probably an optimal choice for me. But, its not hard to see where others would feel differently.

I have had literally none of the problems listed. Zero lag and the only thing that has force closed is a power manager app from my d1, I took it off anyway as I can use the power management tools already on here. The screen is only pentily when it is right up to my face.

Have fun with your iphone, they got a forum for that.

Bad phone, I suspect. My Droid 3 is fine -- have never had to pull battery, have never had any lag. Sorry yours sucked.

so you didnt think to return it because i read lots of reviews and yours is the only one saying this. But then again it seems like you wanted the iphone from the start. Iphone doesnt have netflix? It seems like you need a phone you have to do nothing to and use it how steve jobs wants you to. good luck though and hope you enjoy the iphone.

so you pay $200 for year old technology with the antenna issue. The way you act is like the iphone is perfect which it is far from, Also they are coming out with a new iphone in 2 months so you really got old tech.

Well I've been on android since the Devour launched. I bought the Incredible when it launched. I bought the Droid X when it launched. I bought the Thunderbolt when it launched. I bought the Droid 3 when it launched. How can you say "I wanted an iphone all along" ? I had no issues with my Droid X or Incredible. I had many (reboots) issues with the Thunderbolt. I was not gonna play the game of exchanging phones and setting them up again. I felt I owed it to myself to try Apple. Choice is a good thing. What I've been seeing with android is fragmentation. Some apps only work with certain phones. I'm not a hacker or modder. I just want a phone that does what it claims. I'm in no way saying Android is junk. I just think that when manufacturers put their skins on top of it, it creates issues. If Verizon would have had a Nexus device, I would have bought it.

Have you had issues with the home screen having to "redraw" everytime you close the market or camera?

Not yet , my d1 used to do that unless I used a rom that locked the home in memory.

I wouldn't return a phone because of software bugs. Give it a couple of months to iron out the wrinkles. I would only return a phone if the hardware is faulty. Software updates will be forthcoming. Be patient.

Please don't say that the D3 is doing the slow to redraw the widgets thing when going back to the home screen. This has been my biggest gripe with Android since the OG Droid ... You would think Gingerbread and a 1GHz processor on the DX would have fixed this issue. But alas, I have just been about ready to wing my DX through a wall this past week because it gotten so bad ... I DON"T want to hear this problem still exists with a phone like the D3.
