GMail autocomplete from Google Apps directory

I've got a coworker with a DInc and another with a Nexus S. They both seem to have gotten some sort of update (not sure if it is system or GMail) that gives them autocomplete from our Google Apps Enterprise directory without doing any sort of contact sync'ing from that directory.

My question is: Has anyone seen this functionality on a Droid 3 yet? And does anyone know what was updated to allow this?

Having seen it on the Nexus S, I am assuming that it is pure Android/Google/GMail functionality and not something nice that HTC did.

Edit: P.S. - Another coworker and I both have the Droid 3 and neither of us has this functionality. We have both gotten the new OTA to 5.6.890
