Stuck on pixelated Screen

I recently bought a droid 3(flashed to cricket) from a friend and I'm having a lot of trouble trying to fix it. He said that he was installing an application from the marketplace to the phone, everything was fine until he turned off the phone, when he turned it back on,the phone didn't boot into anything(no logos,no nothing), just into a pixelated screen. I've tried booting into different menus using commands like power+down/up,Power+m/x, but it doesn't ( affect it at all it just goes straight to the pixelized screen,(i know its not water damage because of the water damage indicator).PLEASE HELP!!!!

It sounds like a hardware problem to me. I think if you power holding X and then press the two volume buttons together it brings up the Recovery menu, and you can wipe data/factory reset from there, to see if it is a software issue.

pixelated screen is bad flex cable or lcd screen
both can be replaced
not much fun, i would start with flex cable
look for cable on ebay
take apart directions in my list
under droid 3
