Re: New OTA pushing now
To rooted users: Be sure to thaw out all bloatware, restore default boot animation ZIP file, restore the boot sound file if you renamed it to disable and temporarily unroot with Voodoo RootKeeper.

Re: New OTA pushing now
I just received ICS update 4.04 in Waycross GA without apparent glitches to a stock phone. The network also upgraded to 4G. A good day.

Re: New OTA pushing now
Does anyone have instructions for how to force the update? My D4 is provided by work, so I don't want to root, but if I could force the update now without doing so, that'd be great. Most everything I find online assumes a root user or some knowledge that would come from hacking the phone. If this was my own phone, that'd be great, but it's not. But I'm tired waiting for the update.

Re: New OTA pushing now
The method posted by mmaestro worked great. Overall very much like the update - but can't find the settings any longer to switch from LTE to 3G only, which I used on a daily basis to save battery life except when I needed the faster speed. Is this gone?

Re: New OTA pushing now
The method posted seems too complicated as I read that thread. People talking about wiping and factory resets kind of scares me to want to try it.

Re: New OTA pushing now
I just rooted my phone but haven't uninstalled or frozen any of the bloatware on the stock, haven't gotten any OTA notification, Do I need to do a temp unroot to get the OTA notification? how do I reroot the phone after a temporarily unroot with Voodoo RootKeeper? Do I need to do a factory reset? I'm in a 4G area

I did it last night and am running ICS with no problem.

Re: New OTA pushing now
Wow. Three days into it and I still haven't seen the update yet. I've tried rebooting my phone and still nothing.
At first I wondered if I had rooted the phone at some point in the past and then failed to remove root correctly, so I downloaded a couple of apps that required root access and they all barked that they couldn't run due to lack of root. So I'm pretty sure that's not it.
Any suggestions on how to get the update OTA? I'd still rather do that than download a separate installation from a source that I don't know. - 08-15-2012, 04:03 PM #22
Re: New OTA pushing now
I normally wait for the OTA, but since this is my work phone I didn't feel like waiting for Verizon's phased release. So as per mmaestro's thread, you can download the update zip from the XDA forum, copy it to your SD card, then apply it in recovery. It was the first time I've done it and it was a piece of cake. I kept all of my data and settings and it was non-eventful. I only had to adjust a few widgets and do some updates, but really simple. Even my corporate email kept working fine. Also, I'm bone stock- not rooted, nor unlocked.

Re: New OTA pushing now
How do you get into recovery? I can't seem to get it to go into that mode.

Once at the "triangle screen" press the up AND don volume buttons for a few seconds. This brings up a new menu.
