It wouldn't show up for me on the phone either, so I downloaded it on my laptop and moved it to dropbox.

Good to know there's a backup solution in case the digit change ever stops working.

I haven't applied the new Android update to my droid maxx hd yet. I already have had PDAnet running for some time. I checked Playstore expecting to see a recent update to PDAnet, but there was no update there. I expected it to be on PlayStore by now.

I think he said wrong forum because this is the droid maxx not the maxx HD.

So I would like to be clear, does PDA net wifi work on Droid Maxx? Looking to get this phone and want to make sure it will support PDA net as I use it quite often.

According to PDANet's website, it should work.

    FoxFi Devices

mdvf121 above also indicates it works. It may be good to note that PDANet recently often has to use a mock VPN setup to work, and thus requires a lock on the phone, which really hinders some of the voice commands on the new Moto lineup. I much prefer the stock tethering, which can be enabled with temporary root access, and works faster & more smoothly, and with fewer restrictions.

Yea my current phone (Droid 4) requires the screen lock and works well. How hard is the Droid Maxx to root? I remember back when I had a Droid 2 there was like a 1 click root app, are these still around for current model phones?

They are saying in the Moto X forum that FoxFi is not working with Kitcat. Kitcat is rolling out to the Moto X now. I can only assume the Maxx will be the same so you probably will have to wait again for FoxFi to be updated to work with Kitcat.

It does work on the maxx now. Also you can take the lock screen off after you set it up. If you look in the description of the app the developer explains how to do it.

I am just throwing out there that although it works right now with the Maxx, if may not work when updated to Kitcat. There will probably be a fix eventually.

I really don't understand what the fuss is all about.

Since day one on any verizon phone I've had, easytether pro has worked flawlessly without root. And if you're too cheap to pay there's a workaround.

Easytether Pro does not use wifi tether just usb wire and bluetooth. PDAnet uses both of those plus wifi tether.

I'm using foxfi on my droid maxx, but it is running through my hotspot, is this normal? Before when I used foxfi it never asked me to turn on the hotspot.

I tried the downloaded files with the "MT" hashcode, and it doesn't work on my Note 3 with T-Mobile. It says "failed to decode 436". As a matter of fact, I can't connect via usb either. PDAnet keeps asking me to enable usb debugging which I've turned on and off numerous times just in case. The funny thing is it all worked fine on my Galaxy S4. That phone was on Verizon whn I had unlimited data. I switche when I lost it thanks to one of my family members changing the plan and screwing that up. Please help.

If you're not on unlimited data, there's a good chance you should be able to use the stock tethering feature and not need Foxfi/PDAnet.

    Two questions:

    1. What does the $8 version get you that the free version does not already have?

    2. Is there any way to use it without having a LOCK SCREEN? I hate having to put in a pin or pattern to get into my phone. It's a major annoyance.

If it's like it used to be, the free version wouldn't allow accessing secure sites. Seems like there were one or two other things. I'm not seeing it spelled out clearly on the app page in the Play store, which is disappointing.

Last I knew, it had to use a VPN setup to work, which required some kind of lock screen.

It's much nicer to temporarily root & just turn on the stock tethering function.
