Today my Google services woke up my device over 1,400 times with over 7,000 wake locks.

It seems like this has been worse since the update.

Anyone know why this might be and what apps this might be related to specifically?

My battery seemed to discharge faster than normal today and I suspect this could be the root of it.

Nlp wake locks are location services, and is probably Google now tracking your location. If you are moving it may do it more than if you are sitting at home. You can go into Google Now settings and set the location tracking off if you're not interested in a Google now tracking that. I find it pretty useful.

Thanks!

I mainly just wanted to know the root cause.

I was in fact moving around a ton yesterday, so if that is the cause, and not something else, I'm not overly concerned.
I generally like location services on when it comes Google now, but if it is having serious negative battery effects, I'll have to reconsider, or turn it off from time to time.
