    Default DROID MAXX: 4.4.2 update?

I can't wait for this new Kit Kat update. I am hoping the low light improvement to the camera pans out. I'm kind of obsessed with it as I am constantly checking here and the Moto X forums for news.

With the last two OTAs the Maxx has started a soak test about 4-6 weeks after the first OTA update to the Moto X, and after all of the US carriers have updated their X. We're still waiting for the AT&T and Verizon Moto X to get 4.4.2. (Maybe Sprint too?)

If history repeats that suggests that you can relax a bit and really start looking in about 3 weeks or so.

I thought I read that sprint was already getting the update. Not sure about AT&T and I am on Verizon so... I think if there wasn't so much damn snow around here and constantly being stuck inside, it wouldnt be so bad. I enjoy taking pics of outdoor scenes more than indoor low light scenes. I think the camera is decent but the pictures I have seen with the Moto X camera update look much better in low light.

Uh boy...hope there's a way to keep root, or else I is an update no-go!

    fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.

Well, Verizon Moto X is getting the soak test now so shouldn't be too long for us.

Im guessing and hoping that were next in line for the update in the coming weeks. If we are, Id imagine a soak test in a few weeks.

Punit Soni has deflected all droid updates to David Schuster's G+.

From what I gathered, we should see 4.4.2 invites this week. Also, according to David, the blue icons will be gone and we will have a full version of Kit Kat in the next update, instead of this quasi form that we are on.

"You may get your wish" doesn't necessarily mean the thing about the icons. He may have been responding to the "please make it soon".

I'm going to say it has to do with both. I have a feeling the blue is officially going away.

Exactly, theres no reason why the software would differ from what we have already seen on the Xs update. That would further slow things down from them updating it for the Droids.

But I like the blue icons . . . (pouty face)

I like the blue icons too. That way you can see if you are actually connected to the Internet or not. The gray ones don't change color when you lose connectivity. I hate that! My connection comes and goes all the time, so I really like knowing.

I'm not touching this update. I'm good with 4.4 and root. I'm not risking losing it.

How do you not touch it? The last update I didn't have a choice. I either had to update now or later.

I'm still hitting "later" on 4.4.

I've read on XDA that you can disable the MotorolaOTA app and that will stop the phone from looking for updates.

How do you, get the invite to be part of the soak test? I would really like to participate in it.

    Thanks.

Screen shot without PNG layering or it didn't happen

Also, the fact that XDA hasn't put up anything on the Droid Ultra forums suggests that the above quote is fishy. Don't need to check my phone... just have to know who is trolling and who isn't. Nice try there

Well, when I do a check for updates on my phone, I'm getting an error saying that I need a data connection to check for updates. The signal meter is clearly blue, and I can surf the web on my phone, so I very clearly have a data connection. WTF is going on here?

There will be a story on the front page of androidcentral.com (in addition to other places) when a soak test invitation email goes out. There always has been, there always will be, unless Motorola vastly reduces the size of the soak test invitation pool and they somehow luck out and send out invitations only to people who are ethical enough to not leak it. The odds of that happening seem very, very remote, based on history.
