    Default Battery Question Around 10%

Hi i was wondering if anyone else knows if this is normal for this phone or not. I've already had 3 Droid Maxx's do this 2 of which were mine and 1 which is my father's. At around 10% maybe 8% the battery suddenly drops to around 4% or so. Also while charging at around 5% it will jump up to around 10%. Sorry i didn't get any pictures of it jumping up while charging.

My unscientific guess based on nothing is that when the battery is that low, the monitor starts to lose accuracy. In general, it's a good idea not to let the battery get that low anyway ...

I have seen my battery gain power when it gets that low. I think the post above says it all when it loses accuracy on a low battery.

Thanks. So low battery is bad for li-ion & polymer i didn't know that. I thought it was better too run it down. Learnin something new everyday. Hey is it still good to run the battery down every once in a while though.

It's weird is it android's standby. Because it seems like the battery works more efficiently when using it compared to letting it sit. Sorry i might not have worded this correctly to the thoughts of what is pertaining in my mind. Here is screen shots of good battery life. This was mostly just browsing the web though.

There's no benefit to running down a lithium battery. And you're right, if you completely discharge a lithium battery, it's dead and can't be recharged. So as a general rule, don't let it drop below 10-15%.

Li-ion batteries don't discharge linearly... If you took a 2000mah battery and put it under a constant load...the voltage drops quickly at first, levels off a bit, then hits a point where the voltage drop speeds up. The software compensates and tries to scale things properly, but you'll still see the 'level' drop quicker when the battery is very low. I don't have a graph listing voltage vs percentage... if I did, I could probably tell you exactly when you'd see things pick up. But a 1% drop at, say, 75% probably is much different than a 1% drop at 20%.

    It's just how Li-ions discharge.
