Should I root my phone for this or no?

All I am wanting to do is recover some pics that were accidently deleted from my phone - I have gone to the Google play store but free app that I see on there requires that the phone is rooted. Anyone here know if it is possible to recover this data w/o rooting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of Android is your phone running? If anything other than 4.2.2 (or if you have a developer edition), root is not possible.

You don't have a Droid Maxx then, which shipped in late August 2013 with Android 4.2.2. I know the names are confusing, but I assume you have a Droid Razr Maxx or maybe a Droid Razr Maxx HD. You may want to ask the question in the forums for whichever phone you have.
