I had a message ready to send. I did not close the app, but instead locked the phone.

I came back to the phone and everything I had typed out was gone. My message that I was replying to was still on the screen.

How did locking the phone make the message content I was typing go away?

In cases like that, it usually automatically saves the draft in draft folder.
