Default Where did my downloaded ringtone go?

Like another user, I upgraded from and Incredible 2, which had started going crazy. I really like the mini, however I do have a couple issues. As stated before, I don't want the Google search bar on the main home screen.

I also would like to know how to add ringtones to the available list. I supposedly downloaded a ringtone, but don't know where it went. It DID NOT go to the list of available tones to match up with a contact in my list. When the sales rep moved my info from the old phone to the new phone, some downloaded tones transferred and others did not.

    Any help will be welcome.

I also don't like the Droid sound on startup, and do not want to root, cause I'd probably screw something up.

Welcome to Android Central! If you want to get rid of the Google search bar from the homescreen, you probably need to install a 3rd party launcher app like Nova or GO Launcher.

When you download something like a ringtone directly from the web (i.e., using your browser), it goes to the Downloads folder. You should be able to copy or move that file to the Ringtones folder. If you don't already have one, install a 3rd party file manager app like Total Commander. You can then navigate to the Downloads folder (/storage/sdcard0/Download) and copy or move that ringtone to either /storage/sdcard0/Ringtones or /storage/sdcard0/media/audio/ringtones (I'm not entirely sure which one is present on a stock phone). When you go to select ringtones, it should now be available. If you still don't see it, try rebooting your phone first.

Great! I installed Total Commander and fixed the ringtones I needed.
Is there a way using Total Commander that I can delete that annoying DRRROOOIIIID sound on startup?
I found a couple files called:
    bootanimation.zip and droidpu.ogg.
Can I delete one of those to get rid of it?

I already got rid of that horrid eye and replaced it with something else on my homescreen, so all I need to do is get rid of the doggone noise.
PS. It scares my granddaughter. I've read of many complaints about that startup noise, and don't know why they force you to listen to it.
    Thanks

Can't help but chuckle at what you said--my wife also dislikes the "Droid" sound, and most tech writers these days tend to ridicule Verizon's whole Droid campaign. It's surprising that they decided to continue with it with the latest phones!

Can you play droidpu.ogg to find out if it's the actual startup Droid sound? If it is, I don't think you can change it on an unrooted phone, because the directory it's on might be protected. But if you can, I suggest not deleting it entirely, just in case the system has problem if it can't find the file. Maybe you could pick your own sound file, rename it "droidpu.ogg," and then replace the original.

If anyone else has done this kind of thing successfully, let's hear from you!

I played it, and it is the sound file.
I really would like to have quiet when I start my phone.
I'll see if I can substitute a file with no sound for that one.
