Calendar Widget
Anyone know how to make the built in calendar widget to show birthdays? I have them in my contact list; but I liked how my blackberry would show a birthday when I highlighted the calendar option on the homescreen. Am I missing something? I love the look of the widget; blue with the large date. But it is rather pointless if it only shows half the events. I would prefer to not click it every day to check to see if someone's birthday is happening. I have downloaded a second calendar from google cal as well. The birthdays will show up if I open my calendar, I would just prefer to see it on the home screen without opening anything. Thanks....

You can make it a calendar on Google (website). Settings->Calendars->Contacts' birthdays and events (at the bottom of the page). You should then be able to show it on the Android.

I have that on there. Had it added several days ago. My friend's birthday was yesterday, so it was a good test to see if it showed up. It doesnt. Phone has all 3 calendars listed as "shown" (contact dates, gmail cal, and us holidays). It shows up if I open the calendar, but it doesnt show up on the widget. Example: right now my widget says what I am doing this weekend, and that thanksgiving is on the way. No birthdays.

I don't have the same phone, but I use the downloadable Agenda Widget on my phone. It has settings for the widget that lets me choose which calendar to show. I wonder if your widget has settings like that?

One of the first apps I downloaded after I got my Pro, was Jorte.
It is a free calendar app (it uses your Google calendar info) with a ton of display options along with a slew of widgets. It's very cusomtizable to blend in with the theme/wallpaper of your phone.
Give it a shot..... It's free. - 11-19-2010, 10:47 PM #10
my motorola calendar app displays birthdays... I didn't do anything special that I know of.
fakeedit: Well actually I think I did. I had a blackberry and I think it made calendar events for everyone's birthday so when I swapped over it kept them - 11-20-2010, 09:59 AM
