Annoying typing bug on the Pro
Does anyone know how to fix this annoying little bug:
Whenever I type a dollar sign, the symbol is placed against the end of the preceding word, not to the beginning of the new one. For instance:
"it is $10" always comes out as "it is$ 10"
I've tried everything to stop that from happening, but nothing shy of typing it, then going back to delete it gets rid of that. Of course spacing twice places a period, so that doesn't help.
Any ideas?? - 12-17-2010, 08:51 AM #2

I can't. If I do that then it creates a period after the last word.

I don't know. I think its an outright bug. Anyone know enough about android programing to come up with a little app that auto fixes it?

Interesting bug....just confirmed it on my Pro as well. I tested with a number of other special characters and the following all do the same strange formatting of appending the character to the preceding word:
. , $ * / ! & ~ @ % ? +
I can understand some of them (like a period, comma, exclamation point and question mark), but not the others. I never noticed this before, now I'm going to be obsessed with finding a solution...... - 12-17-2010, 12:40 PM

Just heard from a Moto Expert. They had the same problem on the Droid X. The last upgrade for that phone fixed the problem. Hopefully the first (next) upgrade for the Pro will fix the problem on the Pro.
As a side note. We could type "I paid_$40.00 for that item". That at least separates the $ from the word in front of the $ sign.

The Droid X used to have a similar bug. But I haven't seen it on a non-Motorola android device.

He's right! Woot! They also fixed this annoying "doubling up" bug that would type out the first letter of an entry twice. All the typing bugs seem to be gone. Its nice but a shame that a simple thing like this couldn't have been fixed with a quick patch of some sort 6 months ago.
