Turbo no longer "waking up" when hand is passed over it

My Turbo used to "wake up" and display the time, my notifications, etc. when I passed my hand over the screen.
For some reason, starting a few days ago, the hand wave no longer has this effect - nothing happens.
To see the time or notifications I have to hit the power button. Not a big deal, but inconvenient.
Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know how to get this feature back?
No damage to the device, so I don't think it's a sensor, but anything is possible.

Uninstall all updates for MotoCare, Wipe data and cache, Update from Android Market. The few settings you have to redo will take you about 10 minutes at most
