Google search bar says I'm offline

For the past couple weeks when I tap on the Google search bar on my phone, it tries to search then says I'm offline. Google Chrome app works, but the phone always switches to 3G and the internet is super slow. Much slower than I could remember 3G being. Weird thing is the phone's in 4GLTE until I go on the internet. I'm thinking the super slow 3G might be because a tower may be down or something but I can't figure out why the Google search bar says I'm offline. Anyone with similar issues?

I would definitely contact Verizon about this. Can you compare your phone's performance side by side with someone else's on Verizon?
