NY area GPS
On a trip from Ohio to NY today. About the time we crossed into NY both my wife and my X's lost GPS. I don't see any posts or anything, probably not a wide spread problem, just more curious why it might be happening. 2 phones lead me to believe that its not programs or some update. Both of them worked fine for most the morning...

Re: NY area GPS
Mighta been the atmospheric conditions. I was walking back to Penn station last nite from a concert across town and the little blue arrow would just sit and spin in circles on a blank map in different spots. About an hour later it was fine.

Re: NY area GPS
Same here, flew in from Chicago to Rochester. GPS was fine in Chicago. Landed in Rochester and no GPS signal since....that was 3 hours ago. It shows one sometimes two sat's but never connects. One point I had 7 but no connection with them.
Thoguht it was phone but not sure yet. - 08-19-2011, 06:30 PM

Re: NY area GPS
Interesting but painful. Crabby cuz I'm on a vaca in a new area. Luckilyhad the ole tom tom I. The glove box an a charger. Running gps status (from market), shows similar. 2 maybe 3? Not thinking that another program (bing maps) will help at all.
Anyone else, doesn't sound like just ny to me. I would imagine if it was everyone we'd see more posters right now. Don't its just the typical issues since its been ok forever.Last edited by grnsl2; 08-20-2011 at 06:01 AM.

Re: NY area GPS
I just posted to the main GB impressions and issues thread, I know of 3 droid X's that are not able to lock on to GPS and we are all in Rochester also. I downloaded the GPS status and toolbox from the market, tried to clear the GPS data/status and download new data, still not locking on. My wifes droid3 worked last night but I have not tried my GPS until today. All the usual stuff has been done, power cycle, battery pull, master reset, uninstall/reinstall of google maps... wth. It would be super strange if its only this area that is having problems... I would think it may have something to do with the latest .602 update?

Re: NY area GPS
Mine actually locked on this morning while at U of Rochester near the airport. Had 10 sat's no problem. Returned back home - Canandaigua, NY area and nothing again. Just a single sat with no link. Which makes it seem area related almost. If it was the latest update I would think it just wouldn't work anywhere. Very strange.
I called Verizon last night and they stated they were receiving many calls regarding GPS out this way. But only told me to wait a couple days and see if it comes back.
Since it was fine this morning in Rochester, I don't believe it to be my phone at least. but no idea at this point. - 08-20-2011, 10:36 PM #8

Ok so my original issue was 2 droid's. Mine came back, still in Cooperstown area but my wife's didn't. Plot thickens.

Re: NY area GPS
I'm in Orange County, NY-it's been very spotty here since friday night. It coincided with an upgrade of MIUI, I thought maybe that was the issue. Sometimes it locks in 6 sec, sometimes not at all.

Anyone happen to notice that the National Guard was having F-15 drills over western NY to western MA. Intercept training.

You discovered this by seeing them in the sky or in your NY Area GPS?
