google voice adding +1 to phone numbers

Went from my POS Droid2 to a DX and i'm having a wierd issue. If i use google voice to search a phone number , it automatically adds a +1 in front of the phone number and then the number wont connect because of it. Obviously you dont need a +1 in front of any phone numbers on cell phones, so why is it doing this? Is there a setting somewhere i need to change? My Droid2 didnt have this issue, so i assume it has to be a hidden setting.

The +1 only means it is inside the united states. Just type the regular number after it.
