I gave up on my DX
Sadly bought the new Iphone 4S last week. I finally got tired of daily battery pulls. Hopefully Moto will get their act together and come out with a good phone, I love the google OS.
Still love my Asus Transformer though. I dont miss my old iPad ONE. FRIGGIN. BIT. - 10-17-2011, 11:28 PM #2
Re: I gave up on my DX
You do any modding on your DX? I feel I have massively extended my device lifetime with just a little work and exploration.
I have been running custom roms since I got my DX and had not problems with battery pulls (with the exception of when I clocked it too high for a while....)
I have not, and know a lot of people have no problems with battery pulls. It is too bad to see someone drop it, but as long as you don't like to customize things pretty heavily then the iphone will be a good product. Good luck.MIUI 1.3 Ghz supercharged - 10-17-2011, 11:30 PM #3
My husband hasnt ever had to do a battery pull once since leaving blackberry behind. Don't know why you did but I will gladly take your x off your hands!
good luck with the iPhone...had it for a few months but I missed my big screen on my Droid charge.

Re: I gave up on my DX
The only times I've had to pull the battery on mine is to gain physical access to the MicroSD card. Reboots every now and then, however, are needed on ALL electronic devices. Even the *Phone.
I had an iPhone 3G, and I currently have an iPod Touch with iOS4. The only portable device I've had to reboot more often was the Crapberry. However, nothing I've ever used compared to the uptime of my old, old Palm IIIx - about the only times that was rebooted was to change the AAA batteries.--

Can't do. Battery pull on the iPhone when it locks up and they do lock up. I to don't need to do them on my x. If you flashed stuff maybe it wasn't playing nice. Hopefully the iPhone works better for you.

Re: I gave up on my DX
Good luck with the iPhone but don't forget you have 30 days to change your mind and come back to a Droid Razr or whatever they're going to call it or the Galaxy Nexus.

Re: I gave up on my DX
I'm getting a replacement X. Will be here tomorrow. I to have had nothing but massive issues after Gingerbread. The issue/bug list is about an essay's worth of words long. Verizon won't get me into a different model unless I go through several X's. So if there's even the slightest bug I'm calling.

Re: I gave up on my DX
I have been mixed about the GB update...it has made some aspects of the phone much, much better, but there seem to be more "glitches" than I had before...nothing that I can't live with, but more annoying.
I don't think that VZW will replace it if there is a software bug, I could be wrong, but I think they will if there is a manufacturer/hardware defect...my 1st DX was replaced when something went wrong with the camera software, but in that case it bricked the entire phone to where it wouldn't even boot up.
Good luck, though...VX6700: Using as a doorstop

My DX always reboots when I try to listen to music, and it's starting to get to me,I'm holding out upgrading until the nexus and razr comes out and then I'll see the reviews for it and make up my mind then, but for now I'm just going to keep on trucking with it

Re: I gave up on my DX
nobody wants my old phone. The home button stopped working, as well as the top button. I miss the customization of my dx, but so far in the last 9 days I enjoy no resets and I now understand why the battery is not removable in the iphone....doesnt need to be pulled!
I LITERALLY pulled my battery daily on my dx.
Like I said, I like to google OS. I hope this is a thing like when a new body style comes out with car. Maybe they will work the kinks out in the future. But my personal experince with the DX was a total failure for about 14 months. Worst phone I have ever owned. So far, the iphone has been the best as far as phone calls, emails, mms, etc. It just works. - 10-24-2011, 08:43 AM #18
