Default Problems with my Droid X

Not sure if anyone else is having issues, but my girlfriend and i are just over 30 days with the Droid X and performance has been dissappointing. The girlfriend had the original Droid and I am coming from an Evo. We both have horrible experiences with GPS and internet connections. Any hope for us?

I think it would be really strange if you both got a dud handset.

Your issues sound mostly related to location and signal issues. Have you tried dialing *228 and then pressing 2 to update your "roaming profile" (PRL). This makes your phone more aware of what towers it should be looking for and can often lead to improved signal and improve GPS time to lock on.

100% false unless you are in an area that has very poor native Verizon coverage or an an area that was recently purchased from Alltel.

Here's an interesting post as to what *228 will and will not do:

    ..

    From that post:

Contrary to the seemingly endless loads of mis-information & rumor on the net, & sometimes from CS employees, The PRL & *228 Update DOES NOT:
1 - Have Anything to do with any individual "Towers", or accessing newly built "towers". If a company builds a new tower near your home, that new tower is already part of an existing system ("company"), which either is already listed in the PRL, or isn't. Only ENTIRE system ID's are in a PRL. There is no way for VZW to add or block any individual new or old "Towers" by way of the PRL. That's not how the PRL works. Period.

My guess would be a bum phone or 2.

Not entirely, the batch that came to their store and were sold might all be "duds".
