Default How do I change the way I get messages?

Every time I get a message, it kind of pauses what I'm doing and pops it up with a short vibrate and all. And holy ****, while others may like it, I can not stand this. Please tell me I can kill the vibration at the very least. I'd like it to not overwrite whatever im in the middle of though. If this isn't part of Stock Droid X then maybe it's buried in handcent.

menu>settings>notification settings>un-check enable popup if you want to turn the pop-up off. Select the notification settings drop-down arrow, scroll to vibrate settings, select vibrate, then select never.

Must be handcent cuz it doesn't do that stock. Check the instructions above for handcent.

To tweak the native text settings, go into text, then menu--> messaging settings-->uncheck vibrate to stop the vibrating. In that same menu you can make the ringtone silent or turn off the status bar notifications.
