Facebook on Droid X
Hey everyone! I had, what I hope to be a simple question. Got my wife a Droid X...talked her into Android over BB, for some reason she was obsessed with BB. Anyway, her Facebook, when she clocks the notification bar at the bottom, ALWAYS says "The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may be broken or expired, or you may not have permission to view this page." My Incredible is working fine with my Facebook Notifications bar so I dont think its an issue with Facebook itself. Anybody ever have a similar issue, or know what we can do to fix it because she is all mad at me for talking her into an Android phone and her Facebook doesnt work...LOL. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all in advance.

That's a random problem just FC and open it back. Also you can refresh your wifi if you're on one.

The best facebook app on Android is Launcher Pro Plus.

I use the favorites on internet to access facebooks full site...http:// www. facebook. com/home.php?m2w type in address bar WITHOUT the spaces I inserted and you will have full not mobile site. It works better than most of the mobile sites...when the page opens you have to scroll down to full site and then it will stay that way. I have not tried the launcher pro widget because widgets use battery life, but if she uses facebook it may be the way to go.

The touch site really stinks along with the app i wish facebook would improve on this some...the full site works just like your on a computer and rarely ever have problems
if all you want to do is look at news feed the touch site is ok but if wanna look/comment on a picture or look at your notifications its useless - 10-10-2010, 02:31 PM #6
Facebook is coming out with their own phone, wonder if they are using their own os or android.

I also have this issue with some but not all notifications. I've noticed, however, that the issue only occurs with the native web browser. If I copy and paste the URL from the notification email into Dolphin HD browser, I can access the referenced URL perfectly fine and I don't see the annoying "page unavailable" message.

It should handle everything in the app without using the browser. With blackberry when you got an email about a post response the app took that over and handled that. With the X it comes in as a normal email and the facebook app has nothing to do with it as it will forward to the mobile web version. I hated my storm but facebook was much better on it. I hope with 2.2 out now we will get a better FB app. Also hope now we can have a FB app with true Notifications. I hate having it go through email to notify me of new post, comments, etc..
