Guesses to when we'll see gingerbread for the DX

given the slow update cycle moto appears to have, any guesses as to when we may see gingerbread for the droidx?

I'm thinking july 2011 (I'm serious), but I'm also wondering if they'll update it at all, as moto will have a newer better phone at that point.

We Will get the update, don't forget that the Original Droid (also known as DROID), has had SEVERAL updates.

2.0-2.0.1-2.1-2.2

That'd be three for those with less than 3 fingers.

You'll see 2.3 (or 3.0 whatever they're doing with it) by February easily.
Lets focus on our 2.2 update first, since our 2.2 is BROKEN

All we can do is guess, and mine is that we'll see near the end of December, maybe sooner for those of us that are rooted and willing to follow the developmental community.

i would honestly just be happy with 2.2 bug fixes at this point before they move forward with a complete OS change. I just want my email to push on a consistent basis without having to reboot the phone.

I said it for FroYo, and I'll say it again...

It's coming tomorrow! In the event that it doesn't release tomorrow, don't panic! Simply reread this post every day until it's right.

I mean, seriously. It's coming. It will certainly take longer than most of us would like. But I just don't see the point in getting all worked up over it. It will get here when it gets here, and not a moment before. Or after.

Until we start crying and lighting babies on fire I think we can rest assure that we're all calm.

I think the OP was just curious about it, just trying to spark conversation!

So lets just all take off the big boy pants for a second and just dream of it like christmas.

I hope it brings me the option to set any video of my choice as my wallpaper. What? My old dumb phones from 4 years back could handle that.

Haha I wasn't saying that we are all worked up. I just remember the "Official Froyo waiting room" thread, which was a lot of fun for 5 pages or so (i view 40 posts per page, so... 20 pages by default) but after that it just became whiny and grumpy and blah.

I wasn't trying to criticize anyone else... just sharing my view on the matter =)

Well... the Droid X is scheduled for end of life in March, so hopefully we'll see an update to 2.3 before then!

Right now the Droid X is THE top Motorola phone. Nothing else they ahve even comes close.

They will update it. As to the goodness of Gingerbread, Google has not missed yet.

I seem to recall hearing, over the summer, that future updates would roll out sooner because of work with OEMs and the carriers, and the fact that the majority of Android devices were at least operating on 2.1.

I say December 2010, but Im honestly more concerned about the bug fix update. I had none of the bugs after the Froyo update...Until about a week ago when my music player started the "cannot play file format" and my notification sounds randomly stop working.
